Air is the right mode when the cargo’s value in time exceeds the premium over sea: launch stock, samples, spare parts that stop a production line, seasonal goods with a fixed date on the other end. It is also the pragmatic mode for light, high-value shipments where the ocean alternative costs more in working capital than it saves in freight.
What air does not reward is vagueness. Airlines accept cargo on strict cut-offs, and chargeable weight punishes undeclared bulk. The quote is only as good as the dimensions behind it — which is why we ask for them first.
Actual weight against volumetric weight
Air cargo is charged on the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight — typically volume ÷ 6000 for measurements in centimetres and kilograms. A cube of expanded goods can be “heavier” in air terms than in reality; a dense one flies at its true weight. Send dimensions per piece and the quote will match the invoice — no reweighing surprises after handover.

How is air freight charged?
